Richard Branson Launches Six New Riads in Marrakech Region

Richard Branson’s latest venture in Marrakech promises to redefine hospitality standards.

Virgin Limited Edition will open six new Riads in Sir Richard Branson’s magical Moroccan retreat, Kasbah Tamadot, from July 1, 2024, the website Morocco World News reported on Feb. 21, 2024.

The famous Kasbah Tamadot hotel, which means “gentle breeze” in Berber and is synonymous with great luxury and legendary Berber hospitality, will reopen in its entirety on October 15, 2024, after a period of partial closure and restoration following the earthquake devastating earthquake that occurred in the region last year.

The six new spacious three-bedroom Riads – including an additional bedroom than the one initially planned – can accommodate up to 10 people. Each room has its own private bathroom, lounge area and terrace. In addition, the Riads house on the spacious roof terrace, a breathtaking tent suite made up of two perfectly connected tents and also equipped with a hot tub. Each Riad will also offer its guests its own private swimming pool area and spacious terrace.

Individually decorated in a traditional Moroccan style, the interiors will feature furniture handcrafted by artisans from the local Berber community supported by Kasbah Tamadot’s charitable arm, the Eve Branson Foundation.

A brand new restaurant and lounge, Asayss, will also open in July under the direction of Kasbah Tamadot’s long-time and award-winning executive chef, Yassine Khalal, serving Moroccan and international cuisine to hotel guests and visitors to the region.
The name Asayss is a nod to a traditional Moroccan space where poets gathered to share their verses and enjoy grand parties. The menu will highlight the freshest ingredients and local produce, the majority of which comes from the hotel’s vast vegetable garden, with a tasting menu also available in the evening.
