
The Chellah site reopens after renovation
The archaeological site of Chellah reopens its doors with a facelift after the completion of the work aimed at improving reception conditions for the public. Equipped with new features, this site, considered one of Rabat’s must-see attractions, promises visitors a unique journey through the History of the Kingdom.
In a press release released in 20/05/2024, the Regional Development Company “Rabat Région Patrimoine historique” (RRPH), in charge of the management and operation of the archaeological site of Chellah, announced the opening of the site after significant work restoration projects initiated since 2021.
Many actions has been launched by the RRPH, including the creation of a new tourist circuit, setting up th audio-guided tour and a dedicated website.
Regarding the prices offered, they vary depending on the visit options. Free entry is 70 DHS, while the audio-guided tour is offered at 120 DHS per person. In addition, Moroccans and foreigners residing in Morocco benefit from a 50% reduction on visit rates.
Classified as a historic monument since 1920 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012, the archaeological site of Chellah occupies a strategic place in the heart of the capital, offering inestimable historical and archaeological value. It represents a true preserved cultural treasure, continually restored and safeguarded.
